The expansion continued. Laneway debuted in Adelaide at Fowlers Live North Terrace, while the Melbourne event expanded out of Caledonian Lane to include Drewery Lane and main thoroughfare Londsdale Street. With Melbourne shoppers in the iconic Myer walkways now peering down to the main stage, the festival felt like the city’s own.
Danny Rogers (Laneway co-founder): “In some ways this felt like the year the festival arrived. The reputation for well curated line-ups was really becoming apparent to the wider public.”
Matthew Lazarus Hall (Laneway co-promoter): "Slowly but surely Laneway Festival was growing to become one of the key events on the Australian festival calendar. The Adelaide site was a challenge, but it worked and everyone loved it. We were focused on not trying to be everything to everyone, but to just to continue to do what we thought was right for our audience.”
