Sharing songs instead of pleasantries, learning about one another via the same songs that would introduce the world to their intricately woven guitar anthems. Plenty of sophomore albums are eagerly awaited, but fans of The Backseat Lovers were positively begging for Waiting to Spill. A blowdart of openness and connection shot straight to the chest, it covers deep and universal lyrical territory, dealing with the moments the band realised they were turning into adults. Now they’re here, ready to share that period of bonding, growing, surviving and connecting with all of us.
