We're thrilled to announce the next crop of emerging talent to grace the Laneway stages this summer and open the festival across the country -- please join us in welcoming Bad//Dreems, Client Liaison, The Creases, Crooked Colours and Little May.
Thanks to triple j Unearthed these acts will have the opportunity to play alongside the likes of Haim, Lorde, The Jezabels, Danny Brown, CHVRCHES, Four Tet and heaps more. Get down to the festival early and we promise you'll witness something pretty special:
Brisbane - Fri, 31 Jan
Created and recorded in the basement of the rickety old share house in which Brisbane two-piece The Creases live, their infectious tunes have quickly caught the attention of music lovers. Made up of songwriters Joe and Jarred, the band has already been picked to play shows with Franz Ferdinand, Peace, and The Preatures in Brisbane, and entire tour supports for Jake Bugg, Drenge and The Jungle Giants Australia-wide. There’s a reason they’re hot in demand; The Creases live produce a tight, natural sound that connects with audiences instantly.
Melbourne - Sat, 1 Feb
The music that Harvey Miller and Monte Morgan make is pure. All dreams are. Pop music has no business with reality. When Client Liaison comes on at 2am, someone screams: ‘Oh my God, I love this song.’ Client Liaison is a celebrity-crush. This is sound of desire.
Sydney - Sun, 2 Feb
Purveyors of “ghost folk of the highest order”, Sydney three-piece Little May are quickly becoming one of Australia’s hottest exports. Inspired by the likes of Local Natives and Fleetwood Mac and drawing comparisons to the cutting-edge folk music makers, First Aid Kit, Little May strike the perfect balance of rambling percussion, haunting vocal harmonies and a unique dynamic that is dark but hopeful.
Adelaide - Fri, 7 Feb
Bad//Dreems are Ben Marwe (vocals, guitar), Alex Cameron (guitar), James Bartold (bass) and Miles Wilson (drums) and via their debut EP, Badlands, they attempt to capture the essence of Adelaide by delivering a sound described as mundane meets morbid; the humdrum meets the horror; nostalgia meets nightmare. Big dreams meet bad dreams.
Fremantle - Sat, 8 Feb
Crooked Colours are a fresh electronic trio from Perth comprising of Philip Slabber, Leon Debaughn and Liam Merrett-Park. Creating music that has one foot in the indie genre and one foot in a darker electronic realm, Crooked Colours’ sound has often been compared to a combination of English indie-rock foursome Alt-J and US electronic duo Crystal Castles.
