St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and Footscray Community Arts Centre have announced Ee'da, Hollow Everdaze, FoFo and Bel Air as finalists in this year’s The Very West competition. The musicians, all hailing from Melbourne’s west, have the chance to compete for a spot on the 2014 Laneway Festival line-up, as well as a year of professional development.
Shortlisted from more than 30 applications, the four bands will play in front of industry representatives at a special showcase event at The Reverence Hotel on Saturday 7 December, with the act considered ‘most ready to take the next step’ winning a dedicated performance slot at the festival.
As well as seeing some awesome live music there'll be a double pass to Laneway Festival 2014 up for grabs so don't miss out!
Through The Very West iniative, Laneway Festival and Footscray Community Arts Centre are continuing their commitment to supporting emerging musicians from Melbourne’s western suburbs. To date, the initiative has successfully unearthed bands Baptism of Uzi, The Drunk Mums and Pataphysics.
‘In the four years since St Jerome’s Festival moved to Footscray Community Arts Centre we have had the privilege of discovering some of the most exciting and promising new bands in Australia,’ says Bo Svoronos of Footscray Community Arts Centre. ‘The western suburbs are exploding with music and The Very West initiative is a reflection of Laneway’s and FCAC’s deep commitment raising the profile and building the capacity of artists from the area.’
St Jerome’s Laneway Festival will be held on Saturday 1 February at the Footscray Community Arts Centre. Tickets are now on sale.
