Following the announcement of D.D Dumbo last week, the Laneway Festival is psyched to announce that Atlanta’s visionary and enigmatic rapper Young Thug will join the line-up exclusively (no sideshows) in Australia and New Zealand.

Young Thug is one of the most prolific recording artists of the moment, bolstered by a seriously impressive back catalogue of music. Thug's consistent output over the past 6 years includes various mix tapes, a trilogy called Slime Season, and the critically acclaimedBarter 6.

After knocking out collabs with musical heavyweights Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, and Laneway alumni Jamie xx, Young Thug returned this year with a full body of work titled JEFFREY. The album, with huge singles ‘Pick Up the Phone’ (92 million streams online) and ‘Wyclef Jean’, showcases Thug’s ever-evolving, unpredictable style inspired by gender, identity, fashion, and Elton John. JEFFREY is "daring and chameleonic" (Pitchfork) and finishing high up on the best album lists of 2016.

Laneway Festival co-founder Danny Rogers says:

We’re not in the habit of announcing artists late in the piece, but Young Thug and D.D Dumbo are two artists that have been at the very top of our list the past couple of years. We found out they were available and just couldn’t resist.”

These will be Young Thug's first shows ever in Australia, see him exclusively at Laneway 2017!
