In 2020, the Laneway Festival wrapped up its most successful year ever. Over 100,000 music fans attended events in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle, watching performances from a diverse range of over 35 artists.

From the wildly popular and hugely entertaining Oliver Tree, to the charismatic Benee (whose Laneway tour will surely go down as a career-defining moment in her unstoppable rise) and hometown heroes King Gizzard and Spacey Jane, the festival was jam-packed with incredible performances. J.I.D announced himself as a powerful new force in hip-hop while Charli XCX proved to be one of the hardest-working pop stars in the game, spending hours meeting fans at the vinyl signings then putting in an epically energetic show before heading off to perform at after-parties in Sydney and Melbourne.

In the 2019-2020 Summer before the festival, Australia experienced its worst bushfire season ever. In response, the Laneway Festival announced that the official afterparties for the 2020 event would help raise money for those affected by the bushfire crisis. In addition, Laneway donated 50c from every beer sold at each Australian event to a local bushfire relief charity. Special thanks and much love to The 1975 and Ruel who performed a one-off charity gig, and Charli XCX, Oliver Tree, Spacey Jane, The Chats and Omar Apolo who donated their time and talents to the afterparties. At the conclusion of the tour, the festival had collectively raised over $150,000 for bushfire relief.
