Young Thug announced exclusively on Laneway + Food & Bev Revealed

Following the announcement of D.D Dumbo last week, the Laneway Festival is psyched to announce that Atlanta’s visionary and enigmatic rapper Young Thug will join the line-up exclusively (no sideshows) in Australia and New Zealand.

Young Thug is one of the most prolific recording artists of the moment, bolstered by a seriously impressive back catalogue of music. Thug's consistent output over the past 6 years includes various mix tapes, a trilogy called Slime Season, and the critically acclaimed Barter 6.

After knocking out collabs with musical heavyweights Travis Scott, Gucci Mane, and Laneway alumni Jamie xx, Young Thug returned this year with a full body of work titled JEFFREY. The album, with huge singles ‘Pick Up the Phone’ (92 million streams online) and ‘Wyclef Jean’, showcases Thug’s ever-evolving, unpredictable style inspired by gender, identity, fashion, and Elton John. JEFFREY is "daring and chameleonic" (Pitchfork) and finishing high up on the best album lists of 2016.

Laneway Festival co-founder Danny Rogers says:

We’re not in the habit of announcing artists late in the piece, but Young Thug and D.D Dumbo are two artists that have been at the very top of our list the past couple of years. We found out they were available and just couldn’t resist.”

These will be Young Thug's first shows ever in Australia, see him exclusively at Laneway 2017!

Eat with us at Laneway 2017! We love quality food just as much as our music, and this year we’re taking it up a notch with another epic range of culinary delights and refreshing beverages. Here’s a small glimpse of what we’ve got lined up: you’ll want to spend some time carefully planning these eats:

In Brisbane, Barbecue Mafia will be serving up Authentic Texan Style BBQ brisket and other slow cooked meats. The folks from Mr Burger will be flipping patties, and Catch and Kiss will be serving up fresh seafood all day long.

In Sydney and Melbourne we’ve got tried and tested favourite Belle’s Hot Chicken, plus a thoughtful mix of exciting newcomers and a selection of our favourite local food producers from each city (look out for The Royale Brothers and Fonda Mexican in Melbourne, Mary's, UME Burger & Porteno in Sydney and lots more).

Adelaide’s Taco Cat will be recreating the fresh flavours of South America alongside Chimichurri’s famous Argentinian grill. At our last stop in Fremantle, there will be Lucky Chan’s bao bar, and the local legends from Eat No Evil who specialise in street style canapés with a focus on local, sustainable and free range produce.

We’ve got ice cold beers, crisp ciders, a brand new cocktail list and more delicious concoctions lined up for Laneway 2017.

Plus! We want to introduce you to a new Laneway Festival fave. We’ll be serving Frosé (yep, that’s frozen rosé) in our Le Petit Rosé garden, debuting exclusively in Sydney and Melbourne. Tell your friends!
