Wild Beasts and Dappled Cities at The Great Northern
Already announced as part of the stellar Laneway Festival line-ups, it's now been confirmed that Dappled Cities and Wild Beasts will headline their own show at the Great Northern Hotel, Byron Bay on Thursday 28th Jan.
Dappled Cities recent ARIA and AIR nominated album Zounds cemented the band as one of Australia's most interesting and exciting art-rock outfits. The Sydney 5-piece have been playing together since high-school and earned their live chops playing with the likes of Modeast Mouse, silverchair and LCD Soundsystem. Their legendary live shows have been known to involve capes made from paper-planes, confetti,tigers and royalty - but most of all their eclectic blend of beautiful pop melodies with layers of incredible guitars and keys is what is most remembered.
The Wild Beasts story began in 2002, when Hayden Thorpe and Ben Little formed the duo Fauve, the French term for wild beast, and began writing original songs. In January 2004, the band acquired the drumming skills of Chris Talbot, otherwise known as 'Bert' and changed the bands' name to The Wild Beasts. With Hayden's enormous falsetto voice, which soars over chiming guitars,'Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants' their debut single was placed in circulation on BBC 6 Music and won Steve Lamacq's Rebel Playlist on BBC 6 Music in January 2007.
