The Laneway Festival is done and dusted for 2012

'The best festival in Australia' – Radar Radio

'Laneway Festival remains the brightest calendar entry for those who follow a particularly trendy strain of indie, and all of its ebbs and flows' – FasterLouder

'It was a festival that again delivered to us the interesting and extraordinary' – Indie Shuffle

'This year's event seemed the most enjoyable yet…the 2012 Laneway proved that it's now an essential, recurring destination on the calendar' – The Vine

It was another great year for the Laneway Festival, with the Perth and Sydney dates selling out and very strong attendance in the other cities (including New Zealand and Singapore, which doubled in capacity).

We dodged some very threatening weather bullets (thank you, Festival God) and we feel privileged to witness performances from bands that we know are going to have a very big year in 2012.

Danny Rogers, festival co-promoter (with Jerome Borazio, Matthew Lazurus Hall and Michael Chugg), says:

'It is with a very heavy heart that we say goodbye to Laneway 2012. The bands and the punters that came to see them at the festival dates and sideshows made this one of the most memorable events in our history.

'We're all incredibly honoured and humbled to put this together and we're grateful for the work and support of the number of very passionate music fans who help make it happen.

'We'd like to thank all the amazing bands that played at the event this year. Almost all of them told us the festival was one of the greatest touring experiences they've hadand there were many tears when we said goodbye last night.

'We know there's still room to improve at each event and we're determined to push ourselves harder this year to find even more incredible new and exciting talent while improving site layouts and amenities and just aiming for all round awesomeness.

'On behalf of the Laneway team and every band that played over the past three weeks, thank you from the bottom of our heart.'

Until next year,

The Laneway Festival

P.S. Massive, massive congrats to this year's NZ Laneway star and Australian Laneway alumni Gotye. 'Somebody That I Used to Know' (feat. Kimbra) is #1 in the UK this week. Amazing achievement, Wal.
