Auckland Laneway Wrap

On 31 January, Laneway returned to Auckland to follow up on its sold out inaugural festival last year. 2011 saw the festival move to the newly revamped Aotea Square, a more spacious location with room for two stages (and everything else).

The day was a huge success, with 4500 punters gathering to listen and dance to a lineup that included a number of local favourites alongside what the NZ Herald called 'the world's best indie rock acts.'

Local media praised the 2011 event: called the event 'a predestined success', while the NZ Herald called it 'a beautifully relentless day of music,' singling out Yeasayer and Beach House as the day's highlights.

Under The Radarwas similarly effusive in its praise, writing, 'So, so many great bands who all performed amazingly, not one disappointment among them,'  –– a situation they said made 'writing a review incredibly hard.'

All of which makes us very excited to do it all again next year.
